The 75th meeting of the American Malacological Society will be held in Ithaca, New York from July 19th through July 23rd, 2009. The meeting will be held at Cornell University.

Special events will be held all around Ithaca, including an opening reception at the Museum of the Earth at the Paleontological Research Institution, a dinner cruise on scenic Cayuga Lake, the AMS auction on Tuesday at the Holiday Inn in Downtown Ithaca, and a banquet at the Museum of the Earth on Wednesday evening.

The large recent and fossil mollusk collections of PRI will be open throughout the week for scientific work. Please visit the Collections website at

This meeting’s field trips will familiarize meeting participants with Ithaca’s aquatic habitats, both ancient and modern. Choose between exploring the Devonian marine fossils of the Ithaca Region with Warren Allmon and the freshwater and land mollusks of the Cayuga Lake Basin.

Participants flying to Ithaca can choose among the Ithaca, Binghamton, Syracuse, or Rochester airports. Binghamton and Syracuse are both approximately an hour by car from Ithaca, and Rochester is two hours away. Housing is available at either the Holiday Inn Downtown, or on campus in residence halls at Cornell University. Transportation will be provided to all events from each location.

We look forward to seeing you in Ithaca in 2009!

When You Arrive in Ithaca...

Please make your way by car or taxi to Cornell University campus, and find Snee Hall (the meeting hall) or Cascadilla Hall (the dormitory).

Registration will be in Snee Hall from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, then again 8:00 am until 5:00 pm on Monday. Maps are on Cornell’s website and in the Program & Abstracts volume. On Sunday (only), you can park for free in the Snee Hall parking lot until you have registered and unloaded luggage if you’re staying in the dorm — then you must move your vehicle elsewhere, e.g., to the Collegetown Parking Garage or to Holiday Inn if you are staying there.

If you arrive after 5:00 pm on Sunday, please come directly to the Museum of the Earth at Paleontological Research Institution at 1259 Trumansburg Road/Route 96 (directions) — we’ll have your registration materials there during the President’s Reception.
